The Choose to Change programme is delivered by the ABL Consortium; a partnership between two leading health providers: ABL Health and Oakwood House Psychological Services. Individually each organisation brings significant experience and skills in specialist weight management and together they have developed an evidence-based, bespoke programme to meet the needs of the populations of Blackpool, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Salford, Tameside and Glossop.
The founders of ABL Health are practicing GPs in Greater Manchester, with 28 years experience of delivering NHS Healthcare. ABL Health has a deep understanding of the pressures on primary care, their local communities and the important role that primary care plays in coordinating patient care. Oakwood House provides specialist psychological therapies for weight management. They have also been commissioned by other North West NHS and Public Health organisations to support adults with weight disorders and related complex issues in regaining good health and emotional wellbeing. Director, Caroline Vermes has specialised in psychotherapeutic treatment for eating and weight disorders since 1993.
